Have you taken a look around our new home page? It’s just one of the things we’ve done over the winter. The museums may be closed but we are at work behind the scenes getting ready to greet you when they open Memorial Day weekend.
New this summer, a display at the Historical Museum showcasing the historic resorts of our area. Lots of research has gone into this and we hope you’ll come and take a walk into the past with us.
We are also putting the spotlight on the Eagle River Women’s Club and the Croatian community’s beginnings.
At the Depot Museum you can see the development of Eagle River’s answer to Disneyland, Pleasure Island. So many people come to us with memories of days at the amusement park or their time working there. Remember the stagecoach?
Also this summer at the Depot, the first section of an HO scale diorama of Railroad Street in 1910. This will be a full 18 feet long when complete.
We will also be happy to introduce our summer intern, Lauren Drapes. Lauren comes to us from Madison where she is a history major. You’ll see her later in our Spotlight.
So you see, it’s been a busy season. We are excited to be opening again and seeing old friends – and meeting new ones.
See you in May!
President, Eagle River Historical Society
